Everything You Need to Know Before You Step Into the Boat

Your guided fishing trip with Blair’s Guide Service is designed to be smooth, safe, and unforgettable. Here’s exactly what to expect on the day of your trip.

 Meeting Location

Your guide will contact you the night before with:

  • Exact meeting time

  • Boat ramp or location

  • Any last-minute details based on weather, tides, or river conditions

We launch from various ramps depending on water levels, fish movement, and river safety, so meeting locations can vary.

Trip Duration

Most full-day trips run 6–8 hours, depending on:

  • River conditions

  • Weather

  • Bite timing

  • Travel distance

Your guide ensures you get the best part of the day on the water.

What We Provide

We supply everything for your fishing experience, including:

  • Rods, reels, tackle & gear

  • Bait and terminal tackle

  • Fish cleaning at the end of the trip

  • Life jackets & safety equipment

  • Comfortable, clean jet boats or drift boats

  • A professional, licensed, and insured guide

Just show up ready to fish.

What You Should Bring

To ensure the best experience, please bring:

  • Fishing license + tags (required by ODFW or CDFW)

  • Warm layers (weather can change quickly)

  • Rain gear

  • Hat & sunglasses

  • Snacks and lunch

  • Drinks / beverages

  • Camera or phone for fish photos

  • Cooler in your vehicle to bring home your fish

We recommend dressing in layers for cold mornings, sun, and rain, no matter the forecast.

Keeping Fish

Depending on river rules and seasons:

  • Hatchery salmon/steelhead may be kept

  • Wild fish may be catch & release only depending on location and time of year.

Your guide will explain regulations at the start of the trip.

Safety & Comfort

Your safety is our top priority. All trips include:

  • USCG-approved safety equipment

  • A clean, well-maintained boat

  • Heated boats

  • Experienced guides with decades on the river

  • Decision-making based on safe water conditions

If conditions become unsafe, we may adjust, relocate, or reschedule.

Payment & Tips

  • Balance is due end of day for the trip- cash is preferred.  

  • Gratuity is appreciated for great service (typical 15–25%)

  • 7-day cancellation policy

  • Non-refundable deposit required at booking

  • Exclusions may apply based on river conditions, safety, or regulations

Deposit & Weather Policy

At Blair’s Guide Service, your safety and experience always come first. Because fishing conditions can change quickly, we have the following deposit policy in place:

⛈ Weather & River Conditions

If the weather or river conditions become unsafe or unfishable, your deposit will be held and rolled over to a future trip date of your choice.
No penalty, no loss — your deposit simply moves forward.

🚨 Guide Emergency

In the rare event of an emergency on our end that prevents your guide from running the trip:

  • You may choose to roll your deposit to a future date, or

  • We will issue a full refund of the deposit.

❗ Standard Cancellations

For all standard cancellations that do not fall under bad weather or guide emergencies:

  • Our 7-day cancellation policy applies.

  • No refunds are given if the trip is canceled outside of the listed policy.

  • Deposits are non-refundable unless otherwise stated above.

We appreciate your understanding — this policy ensures fairness for both our clients and our guides, who reserve your date exclusively for your trip.
