❓ General FAQ — Blair’s Guide Service

Q: What’s included on a charter trip?
A: We provide rods, reels, tackle, bait, fish-cleaning, and all required safety gear under Oregon law and U.S. Coast Guard regulations.

Q: Do I need a fishing license?
A: Yes — clients are responsible for having a valid Oregon fishing license and any required tags before the trip begins.

Q: What should I bring?
A: Dress for weather (layers, rain gear), bring a hat / sunglasses, snacks, drinks, a cooler (if you plan to keep fish), and a camera for photos.

Q: What if weather or water conditions are bad?
A: If conditions become unsafe, we’ll either roll your deposit to a future date or—if the guide can’t run the trip—offer a full refund.

Q: What is your cancellation policy?
A: We require a non-refundable deposit at booking and operate a 7-day cancellation policy. Trips canceled outside that window are fully charged.

Q: Can beginners or children join?
A: Absolutely. All ages and experience levels are welcome. We aim to give every angler a great experience.

Q: What types of trips do you offer?
A: Full-day Salmon or Steelhead charters (jet boat or drift boat), multi-river trips, guided consulting sessions (boat-build, river navigation, technique), and more.

Q: Where do you fish?
A: Rivers across Southern Oregon — including the Rogue, Chetco, Elk, Sixes, Umpqua, Illinois — plus ocean/Bay trips when conditions are right.

Q: How far in advance should I book?
A: Popular dates during peak season often fill 6–12 months in advance. Lock in your spot early to reserve your preferred date.

Q: How do I prepare on the day of the trip?
A: We contact you the night before with the exact meeting time and ramp location. Most trips run 6–8 hours; we provide gear and fish cleaning — just show up ready to fish. Please see tab labeled "Day of trip FAQ" for full details.

Q:Do you offer gift certificates?

A: Yes — fishing trips and consulting packages can be purchased as gift certificates.

Q:Can you help plan lodging or RV stays?

A: We provide a list of recommended hotels and RV parks, but please do your own due diligence to ensure accommodations fit your needs.
